about bubbalucas

Well, he is 3 years young, blondish curly hair, blue eyes, great personality and my continuous inspiration to create fun, unique treats for mama and baby.

My love for handmade crafts started as a child. My parents and grandparents are all extremely talented crafters. My mama, being a mother of 3 girls, naturally made most of our clothing in addition to some fabulous pieces of her own, which I now luckily own! Sewing, crocheting, and crafting along with my grandmother would be my inspiration to follow in their footsteps.
My dad, well every girl’s dad can do anything! But my dad really can- an upholsterer by trade and artisan at heart. At the age of 13 he began his trade and talent in customizing upholstery for classic cars, motorcycle seats and some beautiful pieces of furniture. He taught me how to use an industrial sewing machine and gave me my first pair of fabric scissors that I still use today! I am very thankful for such creative genes.
I began working in the fashion industry in 1996 as a sample closet manager for JCrew catalog. I quickly moved into the production department where I became the wardrobe assistant on the catalog photo shoots- I loved it! How my little world in Coney Island Brooklyn had grown…
I traveled all over and met so many talented people who are now close friends and my husband. He was assisting a photographer at the time... we were in San Francisco and I thought I was sooo cool! I was steaming clothes for the Fall 1998 catalog and wearing vintage bell-bottom hip huggers that I bought at a thrift store in the Haight. I love that story! Now almost 10 years later we are still hanging around the fashion world, Louie a photographer and I a children’s wardrobe stylist for companies such as GAP KID & BABY, Huggies, TJ Maxx and of course our son Lucas’ personal stylist.
When bubba was born I began making LUCAS name bracelets for every woman in our family-the proud and excited first time grandma as well as great grandma and the new aunties. From there they took off. Friends were having babies, babies were having birthdays and my bracelets became a great gift and keepsake. I sold them in children’s boutiques and now through bubbalucas.com.

We are so happy to get them out there to you and thank you for supporting your local crafters and us!
